Proverbs 16:9 says: The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
Our plans were to depart now to the end of July on our 2-month overland mission. We have had to cancel the mission to Namibia, Zambia, and Botswana. Our Gap Year model works on us having 5 chaps to break even. We only have two. We have adjusted many things and have made things workable for the general gap year process. I tried to get students from overseas to join us over their summer holiday for the 2-month overland mission but failed to get any takers.
I feel it is really important to give the chaps a mission experience. It is also important for GoMaD so that we can show what our overland mission is all about. We’ve set a date for 27 July to 12 August. We plan to go to Zambia where we have been going for many years.
I have had to redo the budget and the only way we can get to go for the two weeks is if we can raise some funding. Our budget is R30,000. GoMaD has R10,000. We need to raise 20,000 to cover fuel and overnight accommodation.
Please consider assisting us with a sponsorship towards this mission. FNB Cheque Acc No 63008297855 in the name of GoMaD Gap Year NPC.
A friend of mine, Malcolm Jardine, came and spent some time with us taking the boys through a photographic workshop. Then it was putting the learning into practice that afternoon and early the next morning. The weather did not quite play along, but much fun was had. The competition is now on as to who captures the best images.
Its rewarding to see the chaps apply two new skills at the same time.
It was a special privilege to queue with these two on their first occasion of casting their vote.
Winter is beginning to set in. Our first real cold snap is here. The vote is in. Do we dare to hope for a better tomorrow for all? I’m reminded to seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness. The challenge for me is how to hope in the Lord and not in human solutions, whether it is for the country or for our personal lives and ministry.
Pray for us as we pray for you.
