GoMaD Newsletter #21 | Blessings in Easter

It was a real blessing to share the Easter weekend with our two chaps. It became a family affair with Kyle and Christine, Elena and Lydia spending two nights and other friends also being there for two nights. It’s been a full month with much learning on all sides. We are into our third month, and so things settle, and when things settle one has to be alert as things can slide. Its been good to re-mind ourselves that we serve an audience of One and it is in the small things that we demonstrate our love and honouring of our Father.

The chaps, with a friend they made recently, spent the night in the mountains in our area. This is what young men should be doing, wild camping. With this same friend they went snorkeling. First time snorkeling in the ocean and we went quite deep. It is something else to be in the ocean, dive down a few meters, using kelp so that you can pull yourself down and equalize. Much excitement!!

So here we now have overland vehicle 2.0. I can’t describe the roller coaster ride we have been on for over two years now. The Lord has gifted us a vehicle and it really is better than the 1.0 could have been. It is a beast and is thirsty, but we will get there no matter the condition of the road. It has been special to have our two chaps be so excited with us as we inspected and then took delivery of the vehicle: 1996 Landcruiser 80 series with a 24 valve 4.2 Turbo Diesel engine and is rated to carry 9 passengers. A month of rhythms of practical work, cleaning, cooking, adventuring, digging into scripture and being challenged at so many levels. The boys are learning to read, pull out meaning and truth, question, discuss, apply personally, apply to the world at large. We even discussed the upcoming elections. The discussion was not on who, but on how do you make a decision. It is rewarding to see God and His word becoming more relevant in the everyday things of life for these two young men, and for us as we all follow Him. On the cards is a week in the Cedar Berg and then they go out two by two into Pringle and engage the local youth. Please pray with us that they may witness the hand and presence of God.
